Introduction
According to steve jobs, "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do", In this blog, I will elaborate on these sayings of Mr. Steve Job based on the story of my work life and what I just realized during this pandemic COVID 19. Don't mind other people downing you because of your work life and you as well, just because you did not achieve a job that suits your diploma because who knows that someday you will be one of those famous business owners, you need to be just ''YOU'' and believe on what you will do. If you feel that your current job is not your passion, just look for other opportunities, and don't forget to believe in yourself, "If others can, You will".
Problem
During the pandemic COVID 19, we learned that we have to grow in our way, we have to go through life no matter what because nobody will help you but only yourself and do not expect too much to the government to help you in your daily needs. Many of us have lost our job because of the pandemic and the economy in the Philippines is decreasing according to the news and there is a lot of problems that the government need to focus including us, a citizen of the Philippines and as long as I can handle my life I will not rely on my needs to the government even my employer does not require me to work from home which I do need because I have to earn money for future investment and expenses. We have to find work that suits our career, wants, and skills and not just because you need a job for a living.
Explanation
I am an office secretary back then and I am doing lots of reporting, encoding data, making payrolls, monitoring sales and expenses, and manage people when my manager is not around. Also, I've been an administrative assistant on our office as well but because of the pandemic that cause lockdown all over in the Philippines I become jobless at all and It is hard for me to look a work from home job, I already tried home-based call center agent but did not pass because honestly, I am not good in verbal english language and I easily get nervous during the phone call interviews because of my stage fright or performance anxiety but TIME IS GOLD and I have to go through no matter what and decided to look for other opportunities and searched and searched in the internet a suitable job for me, asking an advice from my relatives and never give up until my cousin refers me to one of the couch in Filipino Virtual Assistant Consultancy, and honestly, I'm afraid to try and get scammed so I decided to think twice, trice and again and again but my heart says I have to try and my mom push me to try as well and I remind myself to "NEVER LOSE HOPE", and "you will not get successful if you are afraid of trying".
Solution
When my cousin refers me to enroll in freelancing industry I chatted my coach on her Facebook account and started talking about freelancing course, and start googling about freelancing or virtual assistant job, get satisfied and this is it!, I enrolled the freelancing course not just because I want to earn skills and career but I think this is my passion when it comes on designing. I enjoyed my training even though it is very challenging because I need to be knowledgeable in making portfolios every week but it gets easier because designing and arts have been my passion since I was a child. During training, I usually reminisce about my days as a slogan maker back when I was still in elementary and high school. When I got into college, I focused on my studies because I have a required grade to maintain that I thought this talent was already forgotten that is why I felt during these days, all those happenings have been recognized again because of this training.
I learned a lot of knowledge from our coach in FVA Consultancy. Each portfolio is very challenging and thrilling but I become more motivated and inspired because it improves my skills in being creative, being knowledgeable and it enhances my career as well.
The lessons that I have learned in this course are:
- Virtual Assistance Set up - It is all about virtual assistant and this topic will teach you how to identify your niche, branding, and set-up.
- Social Media Management and Marketing
- Simple Website creation, Optimization, and Management plus Online writing and marketing and Search Engine Optimization
